exactly, he said 170 BHP, not 170 HP. if you compensate for the loss in power caused by the gearbox, alternator, differential, water pump, and stuff like that, you're looking at maybe a 20 percent decrease. which will bring you to right about 140 HP.

You mean WHP, not HP. HP and BHP are practically the same thing.

Which translates to what at the wheels? I presume you didn't take the engine out of the car and dyno it alone. What mods do you have?

People can "self calculate" bhp all they want. Adding up crazy numbers from bolt-ons. Example: "my super cool ebay header added 20 bhp to my motor" and "these spark plugs got me 15 more horses". Suddenly a 4G94 123 bhp becomes 158 bhp...

Reality is no. No you do not have some super 170bhp.

Even the base 2.4L Ralliart (car I own) does not make that bhp. Likely close to 140 whp given normal drivetrain loss...and again...thats a RA not ES.

is it dumb? perhaps. as with all modifications to increase power, the use of nitrous oxide carries with it concerns about the reliability and longevity of an engine. due to the greatly increased cylinder pressures, the engine, as a whole, is placed under greater stress, especially the parts involved with the combustion chamber. as we know, an engine with components not able to cope with the increased stress imposed by the use of nitrous systems can experience major engine damage, such as cracked pistons, connecting rods, or crankshafts. but i've had a few cars with nitrous in them, and never had any problems whatsoever (the oldest one having nitrous in it for 10 years now).

as far as what type of nitrous, i'd only use dry for this application. and i trust HOLLEY PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS for that kinda stuff, they're pioneers in the development of nitrous oxide injection systems for automotive performance use.

Nope. Not all modifications danger the motor like nitrous oxide. Dry also means your relying on stock injectors and fuel tables to have enough fuel and duty cycle. Heat is your biggest enemy before pressures.

And again -- dyno sheet or stop posting nonsense.

everything i've stated is a verifiable fact, not my opinion. alas, a dyno sheet is something i can't provide for you at the moment...if ever. having dyno'd the car about a decade ago, i doubt if i'll ever find the original paperwork. let the skepticism continue!
