Anyone know where to get a bra for this car?

I'd like to get a bra/front-end cover for my '08 ES. I would not use it on a daily basis, but I would like to cover the front (and possibly the side-view mirrors) when I take long-distance trips. Over the years I have found that this does a good job of keeping the number of rock-chips down. Does anyone know if any company is making these yet?

A removable front bra? I think the dealership sells a leather one. I would just get a clear bra put on, constant protection and it looks fine.

I'm not sure if its what amby is talking about, but there is something similar to window tint, except clear, which some tint shops can apply to the front of your car. It can be a bit expensive to have it done though (a few hundred, though i can't remember the exact quote i was given). You honestly can't tell its there (they were putting it on a 325 while i was there), but you won't have any problems with paint chips and bug goo.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, it's a clear tape basically.

How much is the one offered from Mitsubishi, and are they going to charge an arm and a leg to install it?

Cost is left arm & leg, install is right arm & leg.

I haven't priced it, but I'll guarantee that it won't be cheap. Install is never cheap.

I don't know what mitsubishi's bra will cost for the 2008 lancers, but when I asked them for a price for my 05 es, they told me it would be about $160 (the removable one). I can't imagine why you would have them install it for you though, so I don't know what they would charge for that service.

I do agree that bras damage the car. They can scratch the paint, they leave lines around the edges, they don't actually stop rock chips, etc. My buddy had one on his white Evo and it just ended up doing more damage than the rock chips were.

If I was going to do anything, I'd go for the 3M clearbra stuff that you tape on and can't even see.

I have a '99 Boxster that regularly wins its class in concours events. I only put the bra on when I am driving long distances and when autocrossing (to keep the marks from cones to a minimum!). I only put the bra on when it and the car are clean, and after my trip I take it off and wash it. The bra has never left a scratch or any kind of line, and the front of my car is free of rock chips except for a couple that were on the car when I bought it. So, I'm a pretty firm believer that if a bra is used in a certain manner, it can do a lot of good for protecting the front of a car.

I also believe that if a bra is put on a car while either the bra or the car is dirty, that could cause problems, like scratching. Also, I've seen cars where the clear coat has peeled because a bra was left on the car for long periods of time. I think it's not good to leave a bra on while its wet.

My Lancer has some clear film on the body in front of the rear wheels. I assume this is the kind of "clear bra" stuff people are talking about. Does this come on all new Lancers??? I'm not so sure I would want it on a large area of the car.

The thing I like about the "90's" bra is that I can put it on for a few days while taking a road trip, then take it off. This has served me well for keeping my cars looking good.
