2007 LA Auto Show: Evo Unveiled, Lancer GTS Gets More Oomph
I don't think the price of GTS will increase a whole lot when Mitsu will increase the engine displacement in the current GTS to 2.4l, look at Dodge pricing with World Engines (look at the pricing difference of 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander ES with 3.0l and 2008 Outlander 2.4l, we are talking $21500 vs $20000), difference will be roughly about $1000-$1500 from the 2.0l version. The basic GTS with 2.4l should start at around $20500.
changing the specs in a car like this will incure higher production costs. these costs will be passed on to the consumer. they will also charge more for the larger engine and other changes not that visible.
lol pricing it 30,000 in my example is over the top, but my speculating price is going to be about 25k
i am 90% sure
its just speculation, but i think that mitsu is attempting to capitialize on its early success a little to fast after they noticed the attention the GTS got vs. its other trims. now of course its the same car. The fact that they are doing this is most likely to me to make money. I think the GTS of 2008 was under priced, mitsu could have charged 3000 more and i still would have bought it. they realize that and with the next time will not make the same mistake.

The original Mitsubishi plan was to release a 2008 GTS in 2.4l trim from the get go, they didn't do it due to budget constraints. If they did, the difference between base ES and base GTS wouldn't be $1700 like it is today, it would probably be a difference of more than $3000 which would make the ES look better price wise. Most purchases are on 48/60 month loans and the current difference between ES and GTS loan wise is about $35-$60 (depending on downpayment) which is not a whole lot. Current Lancer GTS is a nice looking car but its a FWD 2.0l econobox and w/o the S&S or Navi package it doesn't offer a whole lot on the inside either compared to the competition so I just don't see a base GTS cost $25K, not even close.

As of right now, the Brembo fittings are a one-off design for the SWC chassis. If there's a demand for the setup, we might look into the possibility of making a production version.

lol actually i think i see where some of this is getting a bit confusing. lol i am still refering to our defunct Canadian Vs. US pricing, at least with the Mitsu its not that far off compared to the other auto companies.
But my point is, with a engine change plus other changes that are not compatible with the 2.0 line, Mitsubishi will raise the price to be both inline with the production cost changes, and also to capitalize on the demand for the GTS trim. The GTS was a complete success, completely sold out up here in canada with a line that stretched to 3 months plus.
Marketing would dicate they would use this excuse to justify a stiff price increase. my final point on that would be, people would pay the premium either way. The car as is compared to others in the segment is a value deal / bang for your buck. Only time will tell i guess. Lets see what the official pricing is for the EVO, so much delaying

I still think your prices are high, but I can't say for sure because auto manufacturers don't seem to be responding to the current exchange rate.
