2009 GTS changes!
I think that there will be a button to turn off traction control, just like the Mitsubishi Outlander has. As far as tactical mistakes by Mitsubishi, I don't agree at all, Mitsubishi won't have to develop any new platforms so the developmental cost will be minimal, even if the products overlap, the total cost for Mitsubishi won't be that high due to platform/engine sharing across the board. They want to saturate the market with products that will appeal to as many customers as possible without too much cost for them.
Now I will give you a point about the 2009 that will **** me off, the one thing that would do it for me and just drive me outta my mind is if they offered a Navi system in Canada for that GTS.
Then i go postal *#$#*$&#*($&#*(&#$*%
(the 2008 did not have a NAVI option)
So you are right I would personally endorse the 4b11 over the 4b12 if the user is seeking advanced performance options, and seeking better fuel economy.
There are many reasons why I think its the better choice but its really point less to hammer them in, because nothing is a fact right now until the press release comes out. But I think Mitsu is making a tactical mistake right now by expanding this line too fast with so many different features and technologies.

but there will come a point where it'll be easier to do a complete 4B11T swap than to tune the 4B11. where the point is i guess is the real question
as for mitsu expanding the line, i think it's great. in fact i think they don't have enough lancer trims!!!
-the de/es should be combined into one trim where you have the standard equipment in the ES as options or packages.
-the 2009 GTS is perfect. upgraded engine with loads of standard features and "premium" features as options/packages.
-they should offer a turbo FF to compete with the Si and SE-R, etc. about 200-220 hp is good. price about 23k would be competitive. "GTS Ralliart" perhaps?
-they should make available a 2.4L AWD lancer, kinda like a lancer shaped outlander. very easy since japan already has the AWD option in the galant fortis. call it the "GSX" perhaps?
-the RA hopefully will have about 260hp with it's turbo AWD. price should be about 26k. i'd call it the "GSX Ralliart"
-evo definitely needs more power to separate it further from the lancer line. more power is inevitable for future model years.
-i'd also offer a more hardcore trim and call it the "evo ralliart" it'd still have the brembos, recaros, BBS, bilsteins, etc. but spartan interior, less sound deadening, less weight, etc. and it MUST have S-AWC.
-i'd like to see the RS exactly like the JDM RS. blank canvas for mods.
since you are basically swapping around turbo/non-turbo and FF/AWD configurations, it shouldn't cost all that much. the lancer should be the new civic and take over the street
easy there madfast, lol the rally art is not gonna get that much power, that would be cutting the left leg right out from under the EVO X, It will be more detuned then that. The fact that it possibly may be all wheel drive sounds to me that they wouldnt boost it by much, maybe 220 tops.
I think Mitsu is playing its cards close to the chest, but I am willing to bet one of these rumors are false, lol not saying any of my sources in japan are anymore correct. But I am thinking alot of people are getting their hopes pretty high lol Second, in terms of power from the EVO X thats it for power, for this generation it will be alot of refinement but no more power increases, the plateform has been changed way too much and they need to consolidate what they have. Look to the EVO 11 for more power. again small steps, you cant make so many changes to so many cars, Not even honda moved this fast playing with just one car, or at least potentially one car, and honda was smart to keep using the same engines, why cause they were tested since the dawn of time and they refined them, and then refined them again.
When Western Capitalism fails and the world is going to hell in a hand basket, I want things that will last me for ever, It would probably be, An AK47 (tried tested and true) and my old honda back in new condition (got 550,000km on that thing and its still going) and lots of SPAM. lol oh ya An evo wouldnt be on that list yet just cause its too much in the air, you should be very careful about having to much confidence when a company moves at a very brisk pace.
Again , I have never really seen a company do so much to a branch of their car line.

what i was saying was that the RA SHOULD be 260 hp and the EVO SHOULD have more power. completely bewildered that the evo X is slower than the IX. poor business sense to go backwards on a performance model. remember the ep3 civic si? that car was slower than the previous si and it's sales showed.
i think it's good that mitsu is making a lot of moves. look at nissan/infiniti a few years back. they essentially have 3 engines in almost all their cars and tons of new models. their sales have slowed down in recent years but they have revamped their entire lineup from mediocrity to class leading in some cases.
the same can't be said about mitsu. their cars suck, plain and simple. the only 2 worth speaking about are the lancer and outlander. of the lancer trims i previously wrote about, they could easily make another car to fit that class/niche but being as the lancer is taking off both in sales and in popularity, it would make more sense to use it and not waste money designing a new car.
That means that the colored parts (the numbers) will contrast with the darker parts (everything not lit up), thus making them easier to see.
That's good to know... I'm partially colorblind and dim orange/red on a grey/black background is difficult to read at a glance.
They should start giving people a 73" DLP for getting screwed over so much!
Not sure if I missed it or not, but most prolly saw it already!

This latest round of speculation or rumor has the ralliart to be a 2.0 L engine , this again I think will make turboing the 2.4 GTS more expensive.
but then again i keep scratching my head cause its just a tuned EVO setup they are using for this Ralliart. I would have imagined they went the 2.4 way and have a smaller turbo to make the same number. but hey what do i know I am not the marketing guy in charge of this.
To me the moves are a bit puzzling and if proven to be 100 correct, I would re-affirm that going 2.0 would be the better call.

I wish they would get a press release out already, speculation says the 2.4L will be a stroked version of the current 2.0 which means bolt on parts could potentially be the same if there is only different internals too....buh. I too thought it was very odd that they would announce a "global engine platform" using the new 2.0 and then suddenly make a 2.4. Seems like the 2.4 is definately real though considering the posted test drive along with the new 2.4 thats hitting the outlander suv.

that would be where the Greddy and others out there that is 2.50" would gain even more power possible. would also be wise to increase the intake a point as well to adjust for the increase air ingestion.

b/c they know that all of you guys were gonna jump on these gts's without the extra stuff. this is why you always wait 1-2 years after a new model has come out to let them add some more goodies and work out the kinks. it will be the same with the new evo and RA, especially since they completely redesigned these cars front to back with different engines.
