Are lancers...slow?

Hello.

So I come onto these forums and it seems like everyone talks about how fast and how intense there mitsubishi lancer is. (not talking EVO)

I drove a 2008 2.0 CVT model, and it was slow. The CVT made me laugh its a terrible transmission. Anyone that bought one have fun with the belts btw.

It seems like my Audi A4 1.8T 5spd awd WAGON could walk circles around it. And its a 4,000 pound car.

Now don't get me wrong. The new lancer is drop dead sexy, and I just ordered one(2009 Lancer GTS 5 spd). I just don't get why we need to make a good value car sound like its a F1 car. It simply isn't!

If that's true then that's pathetic
I test drove an 03 5spd lancer once and thought that was slow.
I gave it some gas, shifted to 2nd and my face went

Hmm. I don't remember ever reading reviews saying the Lancer was made to be a fast sports car. It's a sedan with some luxury and sporty features (i.e. heated leather seats, automatic climate control, sportronic shifting, in-dash navigation, etc.) and undercuts competition by about, say 10-20%. If you want a fast car, buy one. This ain't one and wasn't really meant to be a fast car. But I guess you can keep in mind that it's Japanese, and there will be a gazillion parts available for it as the years go by.

You get that everywhere, doesn't matter what brand you go for. It's up to you to choose to "rice" your car out.

oh yeah i forgot to mention i have both a 2000 audi a4 1.8t also and a 2002 lancer 2.0t and a old school 1984 nissan 300zx original datsun.

Lancers are not slow, they pull pretty good...its just the transmission is made for luxury and its hydraulic and not cable like most cars that make the wheel chirp...Now if you drive slow than thats your own opinion...but any one can drive fast and say its FAST

FWD, AWD , RWD

Now the Audi is great on the highway at high speeds. Lancer needs some suspension work cause its still stock except for a turbo lol, runs alright on the highway. 300zx pulls hard on the highway but needs suspension work also

Evos are fast. Lancers are slow. Now can we move on. lol

But no seriously, Lacers are good at what they are built for. And other cars of its class are'nt fast either. Yes, one will be faster than the other, but still these cars will not be consider or will be respected as sports cars. But if it wasn't for us with the passion for speed Road//Race and other mod companies (Xtremboost) would not taken interest in making our cars unique. And you know how thats important because stock sucks.

Ugly car = rice

LOL You're comparing a stock turbo dual cam awd AUDI to a single cam n/a economy car mitsubishi. That's for the 02-06 lancers at least. I'm assuming you also have leather seats and power seat adjust in the audi. Of course it can do circles around the Lancer. The Lancer is no lightweight either.
