I just downloaded and listened to the Mitsubishi Exhaust sound from the website. As i heard, i think it sounded like a Mis firing System and turbo, is this tru?

(im not really sure if its called mis firing system, but i tihnk it is)

 

yeah your car can do that if u dont have high enough octane gas.. its called knocking

Having listened to the audio file, I dont think thats detonation, its unburnt fuel igniting once exhausted. Im not even sure you can hear detonation in an engine, without det cans. Sounds like its running a different blow off valve or I can hear the wastegate, so its probably running extremely rich. My car did that too until I changed a few things.

Incidently, the Blitz exhaust is not only a great piece of kit it is also one of the louder exhausts, but it hangs very low and can catch road humps etc.

I just posted a couple links in the other thread (link above) that explain exactly what a misfiring system (ALS) is, and what it does.

 

xNiNjA-PeNgUiNx, I think what you are referring to is Anti-lag. It is used to keep the turbo running when there are no exhaust gasses present to drive the turvine. There are a couple of ways of acheiving anti-lag, one such way is to retard the ignition so the spark occurs when the exhaust valve is open. The resulting explosion sends a pressure wave out of the cylinder and drives the (turbo) turbine. What you see/hear from the car are lots of flames and pops and bangs. However, the popping is a lot different to the noise heard in the WAV file. There are more bangs happening (imagine a machine gun noise).

Im sure that the noise you hear on the WAV file is unburnt fuel exiting the engine and igniting in the exhaust. Evos run very rich to help keep cylinder temps down, and under the right circumstances you end up with flames and/or pops from the exhaust. Flames are also seen on overrun and are quite spectacular!!
