Question EVO 7 at low revs?

Hi everyone

I am seriously considering buying an EVO 7. But since I want to use it as an all around car (not for track days only) i need to know what it is like in town traffic, at low speed etc.
I read in Japanese Performance Car magazine that at low revs it is not smooth at all (I mean the engine). Hard suspension is no problem for me.
Any experience will be appreciated.

When you say you drive a Scooby GT, is that an Impreza GT?

If you live in one of those blessed markets, then can't you just walk into a Mitsu dealership and get an EVO7 test drive?

If you drive a Legacy GT, just ignore my remarks.

Oh btw, I've never driven an EVO7 so I've no idea however you might want to put down your current car for reference's sake. If you're moving up from an AMC Pacer I'm sure you'll be delighted... however if you're moving down from a late model M5 then you're sure to be disappointed with off-boost response.

Drive mine to work (in the city) everyday. Revs hardly get over 3K because of traffic. No problem at all.

It is an Impreza GT, but Hungary (where I live currently) is not a place where you get a test drive in an Evo 7. As matter of fact, there are about 3 of them in the whole country

The fact is a cannot decide between the Impreza STI and the EVO7. A friend of mine is getting his STI next week, in that I can arrange more than a test drive, but I know nothing of the EVO so far (I read every accessible article on it, which are confusing, one says it is ok as an everyday car, other says it is too hardcore).

Thanks anyway for your replies.

VERY driveable, it should be possible to launch the car without any throttle by just using the clutch without stalling. I'll try that actually

Ahh I've never been to Budapest myself, closest I made it is Wien. Might be in Hungary sometime this summer though for a vacation.

Apparantly one of the highways in Toronto is the busiest highway in North America. Not sure how these measured that though. In any case, I got stuck in a four hour traffic jam outside of Paris and that was wayyyyyyy worse than what we get here.

Worst is London, I guess or maybe LA.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's reply, but I received such an attractive offer for a black STI that I can't turn down .
But I'm still a big fan of EVOs

Try Itlay in the summer when everybody goes on holiday! 6-7 hour queues at the toll booths are very common!

Mind you Tokyo isn't that good either if your unluky..which I seem to be!!!

Billy, the traffic does get pretty bad in Toronto, and it's surrounding suburbs. Ever drive on the 401 when people are leaving or coming back from "cottage country?" It's crazy especially if there is an accident. One time I was coming back to the Toronto from Kitchener/Waterloo, and I was stuck in traffic for about 5-6 hours, because there was a huge accident (I think I truck flipped over). Mind you, it would have taken a little bit more than an hour with a little speeding. That traffic jam was horrible, yet at the same time pretty funny, cause people got so restless, I saw many people stop their cars (not that it was going anyhwere) and **** on the side of the road!

I thought worst in North America was LA, and then DC, yeah no one would believe it but it really sucks to drive around the beltway during rush hour... All those who live in the tri state area can back me up on this, there's always roadwork, too many cars, not enough place. I'm sure that every Major metropolitan city int he world has their own problems though, and no where is worse than anywhere else. I guess what i'm trying to say is that it comes down to the number of cars per space on the road.
