Question kelley blue book...

i just went to kbb.com to find out how much i would get if i were to trade in the lancer now. so i put a mileage count of 25k and got around $12,000 for a trade-in value.. then i put a mileage count of 40k and got around $11,100. my car is around 19.8k miles right now and shouldnt see much of a difference with that. i just put two differences in mileage to see how much more it would depreciate by next year, and surprisingly enough it doesnt depreciate much after that. probably an extra 300-500 per year roughly. is this about right? or higher than average? bcoz im thinking about trading the lancer for an evo or a 350z sometime next year and just want to know if i could rely on the kbb value when it comes time for the trade-in. and for those who have already traded their lancer for another car, how much did you get? and if you had mods left on the car when you traded it in, did the car's value go down significantly? i just want to know if it will be worth trading it in bcoz if not, i'll keep modding the crap out of this lancer now ..

lancers are so fricken hard to sell. tried to sell my 03 ozrally automatic and ended up taking 10.5k, but i didnt try autotrader i just did ebay, recycler and some other no name sites. I also tried that sign on the window, but that never worked. they offered me 10,000 trade in at the dealership at 5,000 miles and 8,000 at 9,000 miles. Goodluck, id keep it longer if i were you and get a little more use out of it.

thats weird, like i stated in my first post, i put my 20k miles in kbb and i got around 12,000 as a trade-in estimate. i dont know if its bcoz im in jersey or just bcoz. and then i tried to see how much it would be if i were to trade it in with 60k miles, it gave me an exact quote of $10,355. its weird if you ask me, but i just dont wanna get my hopes up

i tired trading in my 02 oz for an evo they offered 9,000 for it with my intake, muffler, and sound system...didnt think it was worth it because they mark it as a good condition car...since i paid a total of 18 for it i aint gonna lost 9,000 for driving it for less then 2 years so the value of the lancer aint that great...so good luck...

its probably like what ryancb said.. it probably depends on where you live and whatnot. when i go to the dealership, im gonna try to get at least 1000+ above their trade-in price. but if they're quote is too low, im gonna go elsewhere. like i said, im not planning to do a trade-in anytime soon, but i just want to know if these figures are somewhat correct. and considering the fact that im in new jersey and these insurance rates are the highest in the US, i will definitely wait until im 20. if i get it now, these payments are gonna kill me.
