Question about tires

I was wondering if you have a set of rims that have 235 tires on them... can you put some 205 tires on the same rims?

the rims are enkei rs6 17inch. and i think the rs6 only comes in a 17x7 in terms of width. cus i got these rims and they came with 235 tires and they're rubbing like a biatch. so i'm wondering if changing the tires to a 205 will fix that problem.

235s will be too wide, both for the wheels and the car.

yea ur right they are too wide... for the car atleast. when u say too wide for the wheels u mean they won't even fit on there? cus the 235s are on the wheels right now but i can't drive like that. so i'm wondering if i keep the wheels and just change the tires to 205s will that fix my problem?

They'll fit but they're not the ideal sized tire for that wheel. An 8" wheel is perfect for a 235 tire. For a 7" wheel, a 205 or 215 is best.

ok so i'm pretty sure the wheels are a 7".... so if take the 235s off and put some 205s on the wheels then i shouldn't have any more rubbing problems right?

oh i know trust me that wasn't my idea... thats just how they came from the guy i got them from. i thought they were coming with 205s. yea i read that i can still run 215s but 205s are the safest bet.

205s should fit without any rubbing, assuming you have a decent offset.

I'm running 205 tires on 7.5 inch rims. You can run them on your rims without problems and yes it should help to eliminate your rubbing issues

i saw your thread with the new wheels... it looks real nice. but if you run 205s on 7.5 inch rims doesn't it stretch out the tires too much? cus isn't it recommended to run 215s on 7.5s?

ok.. and what should it be.. i mean what offset is recommended? does the offset change going from 17s to 16s? i was thinking mabye it would be better if i just get rid of the wheels too and get some 16s? cus the 17s look kinda big... but i see several people on here are rolling with 17s with no problems... maybe they just look too big in front of the factory 14s
