Question Lancer GTS 09 Black Out Kit

Hey Guys,

I've been a reader here for a while and I just got a RR Lancer GTS CVT on Friday. But I have a quick question, I know that most of you guys use the Plastic Dip to paint your mid section of the front bumper and I also want mine to be blacked out but I'm just curious does anyone have the OEM Black out kit that is offered on the Mitsubishi website? If there is anyone out there can you also post a picture of your car please?

Thanks, if the OEM blackout kit ends up being vinyl I'll just pain the car with the plastic dip.

It is vinyl. Go with the plastidip. It is significantly cheaper, easy to use, and always reversible.

DIY!!!

Thanks guys, I'm going to find out more if they have a kit and a vinyl one because online I see something about a "front bumper black film" and I'm hoping that that is the vinyl and the black out kit is an actual kit. I'll get back to you guys as soon as I find out. Thanks agian guys.

I did pick up the blackout kit when I got my Lancer a month ago. The film you mentioned is just that, a vinyl cutout in the shape of the bumper. The black out kit includes the vinyl piece, as well as the upper grill with black instead of chrome trim. I believe it's basically off a DE Lancer. The film as already mentioned didn't have full coverage, so you're basically paying the $200 for the grill piece. Had I known this beforehand I would have just use Plasti Dip on the whole thing. I had bought extra vinyl from a sign shop anyway and used that on the bumper instead.

Are you going to use Plasti Dip? Tell us how it goes and whether it's durable or not.
