Alright I have rrm heads and a magnaflow cat on my car right now and I am trying to make my car louder without getting a catback or muffler. I am in need of getting a new downpipe so I was wondering if I got a custom downpipe how much louder would that make my car? if any at all? I live in a gay county where they are strict about mufflers so I am trying to do other things to make my exhaust louder. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

i dont think your car will get much louder without going catback or getting an aftermarket muffler. No matter the diameter or your headers and cat the exhaust still being bottlenecked into the stock exhaust. if youre going for loud you're better off running straight headers. but ill tell you its fun for about 5 minutes, trust me ive tried lol

 

thanks for the advice. do you know of any good non ricey mufflers out there? Im afraid of getting a muffler and getting it welded on just so to sound like a ricey honda civic. lolll

 

i suggest either going with greddy, or DC, but i don't know how great the sound will be without a resonator. and if that's the case then you're better off just going catback. Why would they let you put headers and an aftermarket cat but not do the rest of the exhaust? that seems kinda bogus to me. if i were you id just cut the muffler off and run straight pipe from the cat back. that way they can't say anything about the muffler seeings how you wouldn't have one lol.

 

well see i started off getting headers and installing them myself hoping it'd make my car a lot louder. AFter I got them installed it didnt make a huge difference in sound. So, I decided on getting a highflow cat cause people said it'd make my car sound deeper. Put that on and it didnt make a huge difference. Now, I live in Virginia and my county is tight up the *** about mufflers. Not emissions just noise. So im trying to find something that will make my car deeper just not obxnious. A catback would be great but right now I just dont have the money. I was thinking about maybe magnaflow muffler welded on. What do you think?
