Smoked Tail lights?!! :)

Man i Just bought a lancer about 3 weeks ago and so far I've become obsesses with all things lancer. bought floor mats that say lancer, and i'm even thinking about getting the shift know and e-brake that say lancer on them lol. but anyway... back to the topic:
I've noticed Lancers with smoked tail lights, man those things are hot!!! I was wondering how I would get some. are there some aftermarkets that I can buy online or would i have to do it myself, and if i do do it myself, any advice somebody can give me??

Also, the chrome trim on the front bumper? I've seen the "lower grill garnish" available to buy online, but what about the top? I can't find it or i'm probably just not typing in the right things. help with that too? lol

I suggest you look into purchasing a roll of smoked colored vinyl film. This is an inexpensive and easy way to smoke your tail lights, head lights, side markers, or any other light or lense you may have on the car. Not only can it be replaced if torn or scratched, but it can be removed if you get a ticket.

Not sure what the laws are around your area, but here in Minnesota it's illegal. Along with a lot of other stupid things like dark window tint is illegal, and front license plates are required, and loud exhaust is illegal. However, that usually doesn't stop many of us. I just consider some of those stupid tickets and annual fee for having that stuff. It is what it is.

Good luck with the mods. Show us some pictures.

we tint tails and bake apart headlights and black them as well here at our shop in the sek/neo area. As well as tint windows. we never have any trouble with tickets but then again ur state laws could be different. Tails are better looking and u can control tint better if u spray them with clear and black paint mixed together.

As far as smoking the tailights you can always take them to a paint and body shop to get them done right that way clear is applied to them so that have a nice shine .

I painted my tails with rustoleum lens tint and it looks rather nice after I clear coated them. I did them rather dark though. Could I use brighter bulbs than stock without melting lens? Has anyone added higher watt bulbs to their tails?

i got vht def recommend that chrome is junk. I sprayed mine dark enough for the chrome to be gone but reflectors still work you cant even tell they are tinted at night. I did one light coat then a very heavy coat it came out super nice. Markers i did alot darker and you can do them all with one can and have spare tint left over. Have fun and if you get pulled over sand it off using a 3m restoring kit or just wetsand it off. Btw i got an 03 8 so cant help u on bulbs.

Note: all states are illegal to modify your lights by spray painting them other than a clear coat.

I wouldn't smoke my own tail lights - it would make passing inspection impossible where I live (unless you wanted to buy multiple sets of tail lights).

Just get one of the covers off of ebay for less than $30
