should i sell it???
im seriously thinking of selling my lancer oz. its just to slow i cant take it anymore. There is not enough aftermarket support for it. Mitsubsihi made a flop with this car. Im trying to talk the guy at the nissan dealership to give me a good trade on a new ser
Classics... maybe not.
Slow... a little, but, I think it should be said that the base powerplant is making more power than most base plants on the market today in that class of engine. The gearing is highly superior to most, and Mitsu is famous for making more than worthy transmissions. Mitsu didn't make a FLOP, but, at the same time, they should have added an upgraded motor as an option. That cannot be denied.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The Lancer catches a whole lot of undeserved flak simply because it's name is LANCER. If it was any other name, this car would quite simply be getting a lot better press.
As for aftermarket, I've only seen two car models get SUPER aftermarket support for a brand new model, and that is the RSX, and the WRX, and really, they are more deserving. The New Civic has a similar aftermarket availability as the Lancer, and it was out for a year longer. Does it have as much as the old Civics? Hell no, but, that was because that car was using the SAME powerplant, drivetrain, and chasis year after year. You can't expect an aftermarket to pop up overnight. It hasn't even been a year since this car has been introduced, and let's be honest: the market response, though it broke Mitsu records for sales, wasn't as much as it could have been.
This car is most definitely worthy of support, and several companies have recognized this. It's just a matter of time. If Mitsu keeps the same engine, drivetrain, and chassis for about two more years, I believe this could have the same amount of aftermarket support as the 1.8L Mirages enjoyed, which is far from insignificant.
You want a huge aftermarket, you should have bought a 98 Civic. You wait about another year, and see if the market doesn't open up. I mean, I've already smoked some modded Civics with stock, and really, I can't wait to get some more stuff done. This car is worthy of every compliment it gets, and I think that had Mitsu done better marketing, and also offered more options on the engine and suspension, this car would be outselling it's competitors, no problem. Even though, this car isn't a bad one, and just requires patience. Most of us that stick by this car will be pioneers of a sort, and also posess some definite sleepers. Who knows? Maybe this car will catch on... I see more and more on the road everyday.
I think it is really premature to dismiss this vehicle, especially with the reports we hear of it's receptivness to FAI, and even just simple bolt ons. PATIENCE is the name of the game right now, and I'm pretty sure it will pay off. If not... I will still be satisfied. Good styling, noteworthy handling, a gearbox that makes it a blast to drive, and decent power for a base engine, and a good price... isn't this what everyone looks for in a new car?

I agree with what StreetLancer said completely. Have some patience and save your money because the parts are coming. And you're gonna be pissed off when a supercharged Lancer kicks your *** next year in your 'faster car'. For now, the lancer has a limited aftermarket.. Ok. Your Lancer is slow.. ok. Make it fast, thats the fun part in modding a car. Making it look, sound, drive, feel better and faster. But like I said in the begining of my little rant here, have some patience, After a little while there will be more stuff you can do to your car then you have the money or time for.

Mitsu is offering any new eclipse 2003 0-0-0 upfront for a year and 0% when the year is up. So basicly u dont pay **** for a year and when the time starts to start paying u get no intrest. This is for july only.
2003 GTS Eclipse is fast. I test drove one. Only one they had for a test was a the sporttronic and i have to admit...that car does move. 210hp with 200lbs.

Keep the car...
More an more parts will come out as time goes on.
Although you meantioned talking about a nissan.
Nissan makes a strong car albeit whatever model you might get..
Ser wouldn't be bad choice for the money..
I know my mom's maxima hangs with some pretty good car's for being broke in by a light footed driver (my mom obviously.)
99' Maxima GLE - 3.0 ltr., 190 h.p, 210 tq.
I've hung with my fair share of cars out there.
Good luck with your decision.
