No Fuel warning but still lots left...
Hey Guys,
new to the forum and my first post... did some searching around and couldn't find an answer to this specific question so be nice if this is the 1000x you've read it
I've had a 2010 Lancer ES CVT since just before new years, car has been all i can ask of it, fuel mileage is acceptable and very good on long trips (1000+ miles)
however i've fallen in love with the "kms countdown" which tells me how much further i can go on this tank of gas, i've found that with normal day to day driving after about 60-80 kms mark all the warning lights go off and the car is mad that it has no gas... so i go and fill it up and put like 45 litres in and its full
Capacity i've read is 59 litres... so at the average 9.1 l/100kms (combined) mileage that i get... it tells me i can drive another 150 kms.. which for me is enough to go to work and home for the week
is this normal? has anyone actually filled their car with 59 litres? (i have a 50L tank in my other car and have put 51, she was bone dry)
most of the time this isnt an issue however there's always that time when you gotta get somewhere fast and you might be late - and filling up is going to make you late...
just curious if in these situations i can actually go the 100+ kms after the car has warned me of imminent failure that i'll be OK - or if my gauge isnt working correctly

sounds normal. The warning light is just that, a "warning". Its letting you know that you are running low on gas and should plan to stop and fill up soon. When you are truly out of gas you wont see any lights or messages because the car will just turn off lol.
heh, i get that... like my gas light comes on my other car when its low, i know how far i can drive though - but this car has dings and dongs and flashing lights... its much more intrusive
i guess i'll have to live with it...i just want to confirm that its in fact 59L capacity

Most likely it is 59L. I don't know the conversion, but most cars come up with the "hey, you're out of gas" warning with 3 gallons left. That way, you have a padding to get to a gas station. The fact that it's very intrusive and annoying is just how Mitsu happened to make it...
