OZ Owners
So this question is for OZ owners or who ever wants to add some input. Does the constant criticism of owning the OZ and adding mods ever become to much? I bought my OZ back in December and after i buy my new clutch in the coming months i am going to start the mods but i have already been hearing SOOOOOO much how "it's not an evo so it's a waste to do anything to it". I don't really care what people think it's just the point of always hearing it that gets rather annoying. All input is accepted
Whatchu talkin bout Willis?!
I never get criticism. And I'm around a large diverse group of cars. Actually they like what I've done with the car. My input, don't give a damn what the next guy has to say. It's your car, it's what you're working with. Make it happen.

Yeah ^^^ specifically on the internet people feel the need to over extend their criticisms. Criticism is necessary but just being annoying is another story. Just go with your gut, and especially if you like it stick with it.
Im currently trying to convert my lancer into to an evo, just the look. Im not doing it to try and trick people, i hope thats obvious to everyone who thinks otherwise. I just love the look of the evo and wish i could have it and thats why im determined to turn my lancer into an evo. Cheers!

Honestly i bought the OZ knowing nothing about cars. I honestly thought i bought an evo lol. But i learned to love the car and learning a lot about about cars now. The lancer scene where i am at in NJ isn't to big so i will be different. I am leaning away from the evo look just b/c i am not a fan of how the oz looks with the evo body. I do want to get the evo grill but that's the only thing i want. It sucks i won't be able to shut people up with my motor but i guess the beauty will speak more
actually you CAN shut people up with your motor, with the proper setup, you can smoke V8's all day with a turbocharged 2.0L...but it can be very expensive to achieve this...
here's an example of a FWD turbocharged 2.0L...I haven't seen any lancers racing at this level, but this goes to show it can be done, but how many people (even fellow mitsu/DSM enthusiasts) do you think told this guy, don't waste your time and money on a FWD...
my personal golden rule is it's ok to spend half of what i paid for the car in mods...i'm nearing that threshold, but i have done a lot of work to this car, and i'm not trying to set any records...but if i match what i paid for the car, doubling the cost, then i might as well have bought an evo...that's how i justify it...i just really frown upon $2,500 pontiac sunfires with a $1,000 body kit, a $3,000 paint job, and $1,200 in rims and tires...

Yeah funny thing is i have actually gave myself that same rule lol. There is nothing really major i want done with my car just all the little stuff to make it faster and look better. I for the soul purpose of being able to shut people up want to turbo my car but that is YEARS down the road.

I have an OZ and I have spent around 1000$ dollars in mods and my car is far from fast, but it is quick around the corners. And I have had people saying "nice car" even though I told them that is was slow. All I'm saying is that don't spend your money on stupid stuff. And I'm with CrAnSwIcK on this one: "match what i paid for the car, doubling the cost, then i might as well have bought an evo"
I went to a car meet and one guy had a 1st gen PRIUS on RPF1's and nobody said that he was an idiot. I have been to a couple autocross events and even the corvette guys said that I was doing good times.

yeah car meets aren't supposed to be pissing contests, though they often are, and often there are retards that think they are better than you cause their car is, or they think it is faster...or they spent more money on it, so they're more cool than you etc. I've been to meets, mostly good people, but there's always people like that...in your workplace, or at school...they get jobs and buy cars, and continue their arrogant, inconsiderate lifestyle...
don't sweat it...and don't turbo your car to impress or be accepted by a group people, turbo it cause it's fun to work on the car, and try to beat your own best time at the track etc.
