Cracking on my 2009 lancer bumper?
Cracking on my 2009 lancer bumper?
I noticed while compound polising / waxing my car what looks like cracking of the plastic around the bumper.
Is this normal? covered under warranty? what could cause this?
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
pics attatched.
thank you for your help.

just like crans said, minor impact/collision damage...it looks like its visual damage only, just needs repainting and itll be fine...
i'd recommend having the bumper sanded down and repainted, at least in that section...
many auto dealers(specially the ones w/ used car dept. but w/out body shops) have a paint touch up and dent repair guy that comes in and does parking lot repairs on bumpers and stuff like that, i'd reccomend get in touch w/ one of those guys and see what they quote you for the repair
my guess is it'll be like $50 or so...(dont quote me on that price tho)

its not going to get any worse than it is unless it gets hit again...and about going back...how long have you had the car?
its not a warranty issue, because it's impact damage(even tho its only minor visual damage)...if you bought it like that from the dealer and didnt notice, how exactly can you prove you didnt do it, you know?...
unless somebody saw during prepping it, and kept their mouth shut, just thought "whoever buys this will never notice"...
IMO they wont do aything but charge you to fix it...but it's worth a shot if you've had the car only a few days...any longer than that i'd say just go to a body shop or one pf those paint guys like i said before and have them say what'll fix it, get a quote and i can put money on them saying "yeah...you need to repaint it" wether its a spot fix or a whole bumper painting is gonna be the only difference...wich will set the price
