Lancer Miles Per Gallon [MERGED]
I take it pretty easy and only push the needle over 3200 when i'm gonna drive it hard, which is rarely. i get about 300 on a 5 speed in wisconsin but in DC i prob get around 240. best mile per gallon is nearly 40 driving to school. it was all ohio flat highway on a warm day. i have noticed that the gas meter will move down slower from full to 1/2 and then drop really fast from 1/2 to empty. happens on a lot of cars it seems

just wondering but one of the guys in the parts dept told me to run my car on mid grade or premium b/c regular is too "lean" for the lancer and will screw up O2 sensor. is this true and if i load up with premium wont it give me a check engine light?
i put premium in my car on accident one time and noticed a difference. i got about 215 to the tank with premium and i get about 240 on reguler. i drive hard 80% of the time so i cant really expect good milege. thats also about 80% city driving. and i normally drive no less than 80mph on the freeway so what? i dont like to go slow
i got full tank of premium...and i got 250~260miles...
I've felt that when i get premium gas, engine idle goes smoother and quitter.
especially at the high speed (70~90miles).
but tourqe is lower than the reguler gas i think....

it's getting better since i got new exhaust and intake....ill keep lookin the improvement.
I've noticed on colder days like last week in the DFW area where it got in the mid to low 30s, my MPG decreased to 21 from average of 25, which proves my theory that warmer temps increase MPG and vice versa.
Damn almost a year old thread!!
But while we are at it, mine sucks. I have to fill up every 2 days. I'm guessing about 200 MPG. Thats on Regular thou. About the same on Mid. Havent filled up on High.

I get about 30/ga. all the time. Usually about 330 miles before my fuel light comes on. Last year I worked 35 miles away from where I live and did a lot of highway driving and got 32 or 33 all the time, one time even 35/ga. Oh yeah, and its an automatic and I drive fast always.
