Rear Stut tower
Rear Stut tower
hey rrm how hard would it be to make a rear strut tower bar for the lancer?? is it that different from the front?? i have seen it mounts a little differently but it wouldn't b hard at all.
basically i know you guys at rrm want to see a market for something before you spend money making it. so lets see who else is interested in a 1 piece rear stut tower bar? one that is very similar to the front onethey currently make.
just as an idea but i think it would be cool if it had a fire-extingisher mount on it, points at auto show!!!!

RMR has a rear strut bar for the US Lancer, i believe its a freedom design. go check it out. www.rmrproducts.com
I have the one mentioned above, and it does bend during compression, but it seems that tension is what makes it work. It does what it's supposed to, which is stiffen up the rear end. But like Rob said, you don't need it. I now race without it, as it makes the rear too squirly so I spin out. The tie bar and sway bar combo is perfect for lowered lancers, but if you want a strut bar for show reasons (heck, I even like the fire extinguisher idea), see if Rob will make one regardless. Or I think there was a member planning on making one similar to the RRM front bar.
a fellow evom member made one of his own, engineerboy. He's a blacksmith/metalworker. You may wanna PM him to see if he can make another?

I'll admit they're not exactly "showey" the way I make them- but they're stiff and don't bend. Or if they do, it's imperceptable and I feel comfortable saying they don't. They come in basic black. Want a different color? The paint section of your nearest home or auto store is the place to be
I know where Urbanknight's coming from. He's spent a lot of time working on the alignment of his tires to add a little oversteer. I can see how a rear upper bar would make him spin. The upper bars WILL make your rear end tighter and more prone to sliding out, almost like oversteer but with less control. I actually like it.
I'm open to suggestions and custom work- iron abounds in the smithy
So if you need/want something with some more tie in between the bar and the riser, or if you want the riser more enclosed or whatever, let me know. ****, I'll make the bar and add spirals and crap like that to it, too if you want
Time is money and I got plenty of one of 'em (it ain't cash)

No, I don't. The one that you'd get from Progress is a pretty comlicated set of bends when you do everyting by hand
I'd contact Progress directly at 1-800-905-6687. Michelle (the phone answerer that I've talked with every time I call) is nice enough to talk with. Make sure your spam filters are set up to catch the email that will come from "info@progress.com" or something like that. Their order confirmations kept going into my spam box.

if anyone is planning on getting the basic damper kit, you might benefit from a rear strut bar. I think my issue is the tighter rear suspension is already squirrelly enough, but since you can't stiffen the basic kit, you might not get as much oversteer as you want.
And if you like to drift, you want all three... the rear sway, rear strut, and rear tie. That will let you control a slide as extreme or mild as you want!!!
