EVO's reliable?

Just curious as to how reliable EVO's have been, mainly the VII and VI. I'm really trying to decide between getting a WRX or waiting for the EVO to arrive in the US. I've heard people say EVO's aren't that reliable, but that was coming from someone who was trying to put it down and not coming from an unbiased source.

Thanks in advance,
Marshall

Like any car they have their faults! Service and look after them and they are great cars. I've had my Evo6 for a year now and its been trouble free. I also had Scoobies for 5 years and only had two problems - both warranty issues. Known Problems with the E6's are the brakes warp and the clutches die quickly if you abuse them. I've had neither problem.

is just like ferrari, it depands largely on the owner, many ppl say is unreliable but look at all those classics out there

so is 75% on the owner

Then again, mitsu doesn't exactly have a shining rep for reliability...esp considering that scandal a while ago about them just shelving all consumer complaints. What i hear about mitsus in general is taht the engine quality is good, but the fit and finish part is below par.

I think that the relaibiltity issues were mainly for vehicles that came out of the Normal, Illinois plant. It's a hostile work enviroment so you can't expect them to put out a top notch product. I read a couple of years ago that even Mitsubishi Japan was not happy with the work of that plant. But sales have climbed back up since then

Any idea if the USDM EVO is slated to be produced in that IL plant? If so, I'd probably take a WRX.

LanEvo.

The bad tranny issue might be resolved by the time EVO comes here.
I hope..... I posted Mits decision to use Nissan Tranny manufacture
last week. The deal did not include manual tranny. But hope that
be the case soon.

That scandal was certainly in most of the people's mine.
I remember last year's local news report about Mits.....
The hiden camera showed that the salespeople and Manager
letting the "customer" know that the Ecilpse had no recalls when asked.
When there were 5 different recalls that the car on the lot has not been
fixed. :soapbox:

Lets hope they learned their lesson.
