2 Questions - Sync Key and Black Out Front (08 Lancer GTS)?
2 Questions - Sync Key and Black Out Front (08 Lancer GTS)?
First off, I'm new, so, Hello.
I just bought my 'new' '08 GG Lancer GTS last week from a local Toyota dealership. Love it! So I have 2 questions, in order of importance...
1. This has the key with the lock/unlock/trunk buttons integrated, and while it does have a good battery (per the Mitsu dealership), it is not synced to the car. Toyota sales guy said it would be an easy fix, however the Mitsu dealership I went to wants $65 just to program it to the car. I'm on a budget at the moment due to a loss in the family, so that's not a good option for me.
Does anyone know how to re-sync this without the dealer? I've done some research and found a couple of possible methods, neither of which worked. I've also found a few people saying the only possible way is having the dealership do it.
Also, so it's said, I know that if you have a working key you can use that to program the second key, but sadly, the car only came with one key.
2. This is an appearance question. I REALLY love the blacked out front look, similar to the Evo's stock setup. I'd like to do this to mine as a first 'mod', however I'm no good at body work/questions. So, here is mine below, and directly under that is *exactly* the look I'm going for. I'm wondering what the easiest, cheapest and quickest way to do this would be? Also, would I remove the chrome strips, or do they get painted? Do I remove the center bar to paint, or tape around? and lastly, downside to removing the mesh grill and I should leave it, or is it ok to remove?
Thanks for any help w/ both questions, much appreciated!

Welcome!
Please use the search function, as most of your questions and these topics have previously been addressed numerous times.
Your key fob issue would be very frustrating. Considering that you just bought the car, I would push the dealership that you bought it from to fix it. Have you tried that?
As for the black out front, there are a wide range of options to choose from. I suggest to search the forum for options. There are numerous DIYs and kits you can purchase. My Lancer has the Front "Black-Out" Kit from mitsubishiparts.net. I'm happy with it.
