Exclamation GAS Question

I was at the gas station today and not knowing that i was punmping premium gas instead of regular... i heard that the more modds you have the high you should go... i uselly pump 87 octane, but thios time a put 91..... will this better my car or mess it up.... my only mod is Injen CAI

it will only cost you more money to put in the higher octain you dont need it till
1.you have turbo
2.you have forged pistons
3.reflash
any one of those
if not stick with the cheap stuff

^ what cerfur said.. i have a catback and intake and i still use 87 octane.. only reason being is because it saves me money by not burning as fast as 91 octane

actually, higher octane burns slower, but that has nothing to do with fuel consumption. But yes, unless you are running advanced timing settings, air/fuel ratios, forced induction, or higher compression, you probably don't need anything more than 91 octane. But please run a search, a simple search for "octane" will show that this subject gets discussed about once a month.

yea higher octane is more resistant to heat so unless you have a lot going on in your engine you wont need it. i just realized i basically said everything he ^ did

Actually, thanks you mentioned something I did not... heat, higher octane gas takes a higher temperature to burn, which is why the higher performance engines that burn hotter want higher octane to avoid predetonation. Thanks, I almost forgot that!

91 octane burns slower than 87 octane?? thats weird coz it seems like it does the opposite when i put in 91 octane..
