Flutter Sound at 3k (possible dumb question)

Flutter Sound at 3k (possible dumb question)
So my buddy and I were out for a rip when out of no where we started to her a fluttering sound coming from the engine, we pulled over and I went to the engine to check it out and it just cut, turned it back over and rev'd it, no sound under about 3k revs. Check engine is on now too. Anyone have any idea? I'll try and get a video posted in the morning to help out.
