***Lancer Shop Visits?***

Alright, I'm gettin' an '02 Lancer on Friday I hope. My main question is: how reliable are they? They don't have alotta problems do they? If they do, I will probably NOT get one. lol. Someone please inform me on what certain things to look out for.

36k miles on mine and no major problems. My dealer was very helpful in reparing the steering column under warranty and nothing else has failed yet. Some things you might want to consider:
- They tend to develop squeaks early, especially if you lower them or stiffen the suspension.
- Gas mileage isn't quite as good as a Civic
- There haven't been any long term tests yet, since it is a fairly new model, so nobody really knows how long the cars are expected to last.

I sold mine because of the sqeeks...it was in the shop 5 times for it..just got to annoying after a while....(fix it..there back 3000 miles later....fix it again...back another 5K later, and on and on)...said the hell with it when they came back again...lubed it all up...no more sqeeks...bought a WRX.

by the way....my sqeeks were louder then most peoples...you could hear them 2 or 3 blocks away...I could hear them in the car, over the Intake, Exhaust, and the radio at full blast.

maybe I got a lemon...

49K and no problems.

I had my first brake job done the other day and the rotors had heat spots and needed replacing. That's driver error they say though. Too many quick stops from fast speeds. I know I tend drive fast from time to time.

60k miles, only problem I have is that i just spilled a root beer on the floor mat.
And yes the stock brake pads do go fast, but thats not really a "problem".

Mine has ****ed up suspension. Dealer has aligned it umpteen times, still doesn't drive straight. But I think I just got a lemon.

the ball joints tend to start squeeking, mine had a clicking noise, when the suspension is removed to install springs, shocks, or struts. very annoying, but easily fixed. just a lil piece of info.

LOUD ones...All the time...over EVERY small bump...you could hear them blocks away.
Every time I took her in, the dealer was telling me it was the rear lower control arms (the bushings on them)...they were replaced 4 times.....
when they came back the 5th time, I said the H*ll with it
