Do the new 03' Lancers come with a rear windshield wiper, I saw a white lancer es today that looked to have one on it. Are those new options and can they be added to the 02's. Maybe I was just seeing things.

 

WHOA? did they add that? cause I've been contemplating just setting one up with an on off toggle, that's a huge window to not have a wiper on, specially once it snows. I doubt it's something that can be "added" on, cause it would require either str8 wiring it to the existing wipers, (not likely) or installing a toggle switch (not likely the dealership does that either.

 

i'll go to the dealer today and check it out

 

A rear wiper on a sedan?.....perhaps when pigs fly...
A wagon or hatchback I can see it if we ever got such a beast.

 

Hey man, if you havent noticed yet, the Evo 7 has always had a rear wiper. So maybe the US is trying to make the existing Lancer look like its better version. I dunno. But yeah i've seen many sedan with rear wipers.

 

mine didnt have that option im not quite sure if it was one but the dealer didnt offer it to me

That could be cool but since it's introduction here in Puerto Rico as 2002 model it came with that wiper , i know my car has it

 

the lancer "rental car" has one, im at school right now, but when i get home i could post a pic of what it looks like.

The 03 Lancer does NOT have a rear wiper. The only option added for 03 is a sunroof and OZ is available in RED. That's it. The EVO VIII however will have a rear wiper. The 04 Lancer Sportback however will have a rear wiper.

 

On a racing Evo I can see the usefullness of a rear wiper. The car is slogging through whatever muck is on the course and most likely spraying all kinds of slop all over the car including the back window.

The last thing I want Mitsubishi to spend money on is a rear wiper for the non-Evo sedan. Put that money towards something else on the car. Wipers look good on the rear windows of hatchbacks and wagons, but I think it would look like hell on a sedan. I'd rather have a 100 amp alternator, a stronger rear window defroster to aid snow removal and heated mirrors to clear condensation and ice.

Rain-x or an equivalent can work well on the rear window to help shed water.

 

i know this is random but the ppl who made rain-x are gods lol... i love seein ppl driven down the roads with their wipers on max to clear their windshield and on my windows it just "slides" off

 

It has to be a rental car that came from puerto rico.becuase my cousin has a lancer in pr and it has and it comes with the 4g93 instead of the 4g94.

 

Rear wipers are standard in Europe and Asia generally speaking. The US doesn't seem to consider it necessary. Look at a lot of cars sold in those markets and you'll find a rear wiper. I don't think it's a legal requirement, but they're very common outside of the US (or probably all of North America).
