What Next?
What Next?
I've been trying to do some searches on my next project. I have a Weapon R intake with a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system. What should be my next performance upgrade? I have 4 things in mind: 1. Piggy Back ECU 2. Header 3. Intake Manifold and 4. Bored Throttle Body. What do you think would be the next best upgrade with my setup that I have?
Moving out of drivetrain tech as this is neither technical nor drivetrain related. Plus try to post in the most specific forum possible, and pay attention to what forum you're in while creating a new thread.
next mod is up to you and it all depends on how much money you have to spend... overall the next mod that will probably see the most gain will be the ECU, however, the ecu will always fair better if the rest of those mods are in place ahead of it... plus with ecu you need to use premium gas, and the other mods you dont..
Well, the way I'm doing it is I'm starting w/ Intake, like you have and I'm working my way around in a hook towards the headers on out to the exhaust. That's before the FI goes in. So...
Intake - > TB - > Manifold - > Header - > Exhaust
Then just like Psionic98 said, get the ECU last because that will make everything else perform better. Just my .02 and what I have planned for my car. Good luck w/ whatever you do, it's a very expensive hobby we're into!

Yeah i know it's an expensive hobby...but fun. As long as the ECU is last I can basically get the throttle body, header or intake manifold next then? I wasn't sure if there was a specific order they had to be in to perform the best.

The header will increase both the volume and pitch of your exhaust; making it louder and higher pitched. How much depends on: 1) the size piping your header will be 2) the size piping your exhaust will be.
In my cases I had the RPW header/downpipe (2.5" downpipe size) dump into a RRM testpipe (2.25") followed by stock piping and ending in a RMR axleback (2.25") piping and I removed the testpipe the same day I installed it because the exhaust was way too high pitched.
Then I had the same header/downpipe dump into the 2nd cat followed by a JIC-Magic catback (2.5") and it was loud and deep.
Now I have the same header/downpipe dump into a custom 2.5" testpipe followed by the same catback and it's loud and deep enough to set of alarms when I remote start my car.
As for getting the manifold and tb, you don't have to get them done before the ecu. The parts will provide the same gains in the end no matter what order you get them in. I'd get the header then the ecu (remember you have to run 91 or better octane at all times) because they provide the biggest gains. I'd do a testpipe/highflow cat next, the intake manifold after that and the tb last. That should give you the biggest gains with each mod and by the time you get around to the manifold and tb, you'll have plenty of power already to make the gains from the two items more significant.
