Well it's not so much that, I can understand people doing things for reasons other than performance and functionality, I just don't understand the point of this. In order to not lose performance the pipes are going to have to be tiny which will not only look weak but it'll sound horrible, the cars a 4 door so people in the back will have to deal with hot gases when they get out of the car, you'll have to mangle the side skirts and do a lot of customization to get them to fit and this whole idea is for RWD cars, much like my wide-rear tire analogy. If you're going to do a side exhaust, just use one pipe. You could also do a dual tip muffler out the back if you like that look.

we did that a few years ago on a colt 4g63 we built
it was loud as hell
not fun for long drives
it exited just before the driver side rear wheels

just dont have rear passengers stand next to the pipes for a long time. and how bad would one tip look (example picture posted previously) even if in the right spot. dual tips is just to make it wider. well he's already decided so i guess we'll see. again, performance is not the idea

personally i think this is a terrible idea and will not look good with the tiny tips that you will have to use to not lose power and it will also sound bad. i give it a big save your money and get a turbo then do this if u still want it.

Dumbest idea ever. If you are just doing this for looks than you are a total ricer. To me a definition of a ricer is a person that installs a mod that is not functional, but this idea is actually worse, because you are actually going to do something that has a negative function, which is to produce less power. This is totally a waste of money, time, and effort. I give you an F-.

^Exactly, someone who actually gets what I'm saying. In order to not hamper performance the tips are going to have to be tiny. This will lead to a crappy sound and a retarded appearance. Furthermore to make it look decent will cost quite a bit of money since you'll have to get the pipes cut, bent and welded, the side skirts modified and repainted and you'll need to figure out a way to attach the pipes to the body otherwise they'll rattle like hell and tear apart the skirts. Also, how often do you wanna tell people "Oh can you not stand by my back doors cause my exhaust is right there"?

^not only that but, correct me if im wrong, in a car with such little back pressure wouldnt you get alot of exhaust fumes coming in the car on the hot summer days when you have the windows down and are stopped at a light or something? another reason why this is only done on rwd coupes.

Yep sure will. Hell I get exhaust fumes on really cold days and I have a normal catback.

how is this not functional? look i have a stock cat, a stock resonator and a 3A racing exhaust.. that piece of **** is just an open pipe.. i'm actually adding a muffler that WILL have backpressure.. i'm actually gaining backpressure.

It's no more functional than what you have now. I'm sorry but this fits the bill as a ricer mod. You're spending money (quite a bit mind you if you want to do it right) even though it won't help performance at all and attempting to rationalize it as a "go fast" mod. Think about it, rather than squeeze the exhaust through the stock piping (all be it with an open muffler) you'll be dumping the exhaust through two tubes. Even if you use small tubes there will still be more "pipe area" thus more flow and even less backpressure.
If you're worried about performance, this is not the mod for you. I can think of at least 10 things I would do in your situation that would actually increase the performance of the car without making it a rolling joke to people on forums like this.

Look you guys need to calm down. It says nothing about anyone on this forum. It will allow no more fumes into your car than sitting at a red light next to those big trucks with the exhaust pointed right into your car. I still no one else understands what he is doing. He is keeping stock pipe diameter and just turning it to come out of the side, meaning ADDING to back pressure because the air has to turn so sharp. Tip have nothing to do with performance, just throw on a twin tip that looks nice. Figure out what you're talking about before you try to talk s***
