Door panel fabric ticks?
Door panel fabric tricks?
I was just wondering, i've read a couple threads about re-upholserting (sp) the door panels in the Lancer, but I was just wondering, isn't there just a way that I can dye the existing door panel fabric? I want to dye it black, so I'm assuming it should be do-able, I just have no idea what to use. The sticking point, i'm thinking, will be using something that's not gonna rub off on my shirtsleeve every time I open the door. One brilliant friend of mine suggested that liquid shoe-polish stuff, but i'm thinking that fabric isn't absorbant enough to soak that up...thoughts?

Yes. They make fabric dye. Comes in a spray can. Hit your local auto parts stores.
Some folks have used it on their seats, so you gotta believe that it won't rub off on your arm.

I was under the impression that the door-panel fabric doesn't come off IE looks seperate but isn't. So, as such, my question would be whether this is something I could just mask the door and spray away with or what. I'm assuming I could, since having to remove the fabric would pretty much negate the purpose of coloring it if I could just as easily replace said fabric..Anyway...does that make sense?
Spend the $20 to buy some black material that is similar texture to whats there and $6 for good spray adhesive. Take a few hours out of your life and actually recover them. You will be happier with the end result. Most of that spray on dye that you get at the auto parts stores normally end up drying rough and feel like you spray painted it.
