Arrow intake and warranty...

hello everyone!

Last day i was cruising around with my gts and....well i got outraced by an old crappy sebring and i got really pissed lol

I'm a total noob when it comes to tuning and modding cars and thats why i wanna ask you guys a few questions cuz i really wanna add more juice to our rather anemic engines...

1 - Would the RRM short ram intake (apparently drops 1 sec in 0-60 time - only 160 $??) void my warranty ? apparently it doesnt damage any stock components...

2 - Does the axle back exhaust add more power too? or is it just for the sound?

Thanks !

Alex

Anything that alters the manufacturer's original setup is grounds for a denial of warranty claim. The key word you used is 'apparently'. A Mitsubishi warranty manager could also say that the add-on aftermarket part 'apparently' was the cause of failure.

Why would you get pissed by getting 'outraced' by a Chrysler Sebring? The 2008 Lancer is not a straightline beast by any measure. Yes, it's peppy and a fun driving car (I have one), but the Chrysler has displacement on you and a higher base torque. The fact that your car is a CVT is also a limiting factor. You'll definitely handle better in the turns with your Lancer over a Sebring, but it sounds to me that you're looking for some real straightline power.

What you need to consider is if you really want to keep your warranty for the life term of the car. One of Mitsubishi's top selling points on it's vehicles is the warranty. I don't know how they administer it in Canada, but here in the US, MMNA will honor your warranty on the condition that nothing has been altered and all regular maintenance has been followed and documented to that effect. Don't let a one-time run-in with a Sebring get you to the point where you think you HAVE to squeeze more power out of your fully warrantied BRAND NEW car. Enjoy it for what it is and all it offers you.

You guys bought the wrong car if you want power...you will spend far less on a used EVO that already has some power than you will on making the gts go. Not to mention the EVO already has the base parts that makes modding very easy and mush less expensive.

I'd never buy a new car if I wanted to seriously mod it and turn it into a performance machine. I love my new Lancer ES, and part of that is the 5 year, 60k bumper to bumper warranty. I also love my 1992 Toyota MR2 turbo, and all the $$$$ of mods I've done to it without worrying about a warranty that ran out 12 years ago.
