Intake off e-bay?

I have seen pics of RRM's intake and one off e-bay. They both look the same and claim cnc machining...the one on e-bay is obviously cheaper. It uses a ractive filter, which I have never hear of but googled it and lots of people seem to stock it...

For the amount of money saved I am probably going to go with RRM's piece, but just curious...

Rule of thumb, dont buy ebay brands. Only E-bay if its a piece made by a known manufacturer that someone is selling brand new.

IE: If RRM had an Ebay store and sold their stuff there.

The e-Bay one also doesn't guarantee that a SES/CE light won't come one. RRM does.

get the ebay one and change the filter to a K&N one.
people have done this for a long time with the 02-06's. i don't see any reason you couldn't do the same on the 08's

Because the MAS is integrated and can cause a CEL/SES if you don't get the right kind...

---------

The eBay version is a ripoff of the RRM one. Buy it if you want, but know that it might not fit/work perfectly.

Yeah another guy with an 08 did buy an ebay one just like RRMs and got a CEL. It works fine for 02-07s, but I guess the 08 is more technical.

After owning both, I'll say that the technology on the 2008s (especially the GTS) compared to the 2002 I had before is like comparing today's computers against a 1985 Tandy computer.

They had the debate about the ebay guy having the same name as a member but they said it wasn't the same guy. And I would say that if RRMs intake doesn't cause a CEL but the Ebay one does, then they don't do the same thing. Ebay intakes had no problems with the older Lancers.

yeah for an extra 30$ i would pay more to have the one that is gonna work properly, not saying the e-bay one won't but these new 2008's I know have very picky sensors that love to throw check engine lights...wanna try one? unplug your drive by wire harness and see what happens :P

No ****. RRM has reported that if you deactivate the DRLs the wrong way, the car goes into Limp Mode.
