True, but you can't get the laser scrambling technology in just a simple radar detector; normally its a device that has to be mounted to the front and back of the vehicle and can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the quality of the product.

Yes, that's true. When I crossed the border, they threatened to take mine away.

Lightbulb Radar detector

I have the escort 9500i..i love it.. it remembers all the false alarms that you know that are false alarms .. it also tracts the car by gps and adjust the sensitivity with the speed you are going. the escort website shows you how all the radar detecting tech works so that might help you out. http://www.escortradar.com/9500i.htm

I'm in canada. And i'm training to be a police officer. Alot of the officers i know have a radar detector. I've definitely not heard of it being illegal, but the traffic laws do vary province to province and i'm only familiar with alberta's laws

Nope, they make them. Look at Rocky Mountain Radar Detectors.

Full radar/laser detectors and scramblers - I have seen these priced
RMRDL5340: $110
RMRC450: $190

i'd leave X band on... around here the older police radar stuff operates on X band as well as the speed signs. sometimes the cops will park by the speed signs because people like to see how high the numbers on those go.

Check this site out, RMR sells crappy radar detectors that say they scramble signals. Not to mention I owned their top model radar "Scrambler" and I got caught speeding. The window mounted radar/laser detectors and scramblers are just a scam. The above website shows video test that were done against RMR products; they failed everytime.

Works for me.

I guess I'm one of those damn old people that gets yelled at for doing the speed limit in the slow lane and "blocking traffic."

It's too bad that you gave the best radar detector to your girlfriend and you kept the second best.

That's funny. My father in law is the Chief of Police where he lives, and he made the biggest face when he saw mine. He drives a friggin Corvette for god's sake. One day we went to the Outlets 2 hours away, and I had to go at least 15 over to keep up with him.

I crossed over at the Niagara falls border.
