How To Install In-Dash DVD Unit

I want to install a motorized dvd unit, but I don't see a dash kit for the 2008 Lancers yet. Is the only way to get this done by chopping up the dash? If so is it possible to buy the dash unit minus the radio, so I can cut it up and still have the option to put back the stock parts?

wait for the dash kit to come out, or see if the OEM dash kit will work for installing the OEM navi

Dash Kit

You can get the dash kit (Double DIN) from your dealership but it's pricey as hell! They quoted me $650! I have a friend who works at a dealership and he said that "cost" on the part is still $300! I have read on other threads that Metra is coming out with a dash kit sometime in Sept. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Holy Jiminy Christmas!!! This question has been asked 489376594387653498 times. At least try to use the "search" feature before you ask a question. 99.9999999% of the time your question has been asked before and answered.

I have a direct rep that works for Metra. As of a week ago he stated that it was still in R&D and scheduled for a mid to late September release.

I called him Friday and he was out of the office. I'll try Monday or Tuesday.

What's the good word?

I have tried to contact someone at Metra and got a complete screw off answer from them, saying they can't release that type of information. All I asked was when they planned on releasing the doublin dash kit!

Serious... have you heard from your guy there yet?
