you can operate it the same way, only difference is, when you turn the headlight switch once to usually just turn on your parking lights, it will also turn on your headlights. The fogs also has a harness just plugs into the OEM plug, to turn on the system.
this seems to be only inconvenient for people who like to wait for people at night and just want the parking lights on.
If you really want to have parking lights, you can always install undercar kits, just make sure you remember to turn it off when you start to drive.

I was thinking of doing that also. But the thought of actually taking the car to the dealership, and asking them to probably install those projectors, which I think will require a new ECU or something expensive, sends shivers down my spine. I don't think my wallet can survive that hit at this time....

Yesterday I was poking around in the steering column and what I found has me confused and intrigued.
Both stalks (light control and wiper control) send info through one plug. This plug has 5 wires. 1 ground, 3 12v and 1 8v. From my testing, the voltage never fluctuates even though so many different signals are sent through this plug.
My idea was to find which wire produced power when "headlights" were selected, and use that to power the relay instead of the parking lamps. This is still my plan, I just seem to have hit a block. But what really gets me is how are all these signals processed through these wires? I've pulled the light control stalk and plan on performing surgery in the name of science.

yeah, seems easier just to relay to the parking lights. Since it seems the DRL is connected to more than just one thing. Parking brake, high beam, speed. etc.
Seems less of a hassle to just to splice into the parking lights, and lose it's individual functionality.

ok mitsu told me that it is illegal for them to turn off the DRL'S but if you have the navi there is supposed to be a setting in it where you can turn them on and off yourself. they said its in customer preferances or something like that! I havent had a chance to look myself yet but if i find it or if anyone else finds it please post and let everyone know.
