Probably re-wiring it for a constant 12v power source w/o a dimmer.

First you remove the dash peices, and the attached clock. Unplug the clock from it's harness, and locate the 3 metal pins on the back of the clock (male part of coupling to harness). One of them has the letters "ILL" molded in the plastic just above it. That stands for "illumination." Here's where it gets tough. Use a small pen or something and bend that metal prong over flat inside the molding so that you can still recouple the clock and harness plug, just make sure it's not touching another metal prong before you plug it back in. I was lying about the tough part. Simply reassemble it all, and your clock will no longer dim, it just stays bright the whole time.

Done.

It was in the how-to for making all your dash lights red. After a couple of days with that extravaganza, I'm pretty sure I could take apart my dash blindfolded. But anyway, yeah, it was in one of the bazillion add-ons to the dash light mod.

Works just as expected. Next time you're installing something, might as well bend that little tab over!

I do not understand why do people want to do this? I'd imagine the only reason is because of different color filters, but why if you are using the stock color?

I don't know about the other people, but I would want to do this because I always drive with my lights on...like daytime running lights. Plus since they automatically shut off when you turn off the car and get out, it's just one less thing to think about. Anyway, when the lights are on it makes the clock dim. During the day it seems like there is always a glare and since the clock is dim you can't see what time it is. With it brighter it's no problem.
