Yes, totally possible. I would recommend reading up on a tinting forum first though. Yes, there are tinting forums! LOL

I believe Lumar and 3M are a couple good brands. A true tint pro. can tell you what they prefer, but this is what I gathered from my reading.

blah, i just read the tutorial on how to tint windows. it kind of took my motivation away.. "IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO JUST TINT ONE CAR, THEN ALL THE TOOLS AND MONEY YOU SPEND WILL NOT BE WORTH IT, ALONG WITH THE HARD TIME AND OBSTACLES YOU WILL FACE"...

blah. is it really costly and hard.
i dont mind time consuming though.

it's not really all that costly, IMO. for equipment you need a soft squeegee that gets really thin on it's edge, and a spray bottle filled with soapy water... oh, and you'll need razor blades. 3 things is all you need (not counting the tint). When I first learned to do it I practiced a few times on a piece of scrap lexan/plexi I had laying around before I did my first car. When I did the car I was quite pleased with the results. It wasn't "Pro" quality, but it was a good job I did; no bubbles or debris caught in the film. The only thing that made my tint job non-pro was the edge along the door windows that I cut. My cut wasn't as even as what I pro does, but with the windows up you couldn't tell.

However, the last time I tinted windows was over 10 years ago. So, instead of doing my Lancer GTS myself, I opted to just pay someone else to do it this time around. The "lifetime warranty" and the added necessity of applying felt/mole skin to the inner weather strips made paying someone else to do it worth the cost to me. Also, the guy gave me a $150 discount on having a clear bra put on, since I had it all done at the same time.

they do make "tint in a can". However, my experience is the stuff does not last as long as regular tint film.

you can find both online. However, unless I'm mistaken, you should be able to find 3M at any major part store chain (e.g. pep boys, autozone, etc.)...
