What is the type of grease called to cool down harness so they will not get overheated and melt. I went to a store called "TopSpeed" and I bought some NOKYA 2500K YELLOW FOG LIGHTS 80WATTS. I know our stock has ~50W. The guy told me there was a type of grease that helps protect the harness from melting. With this grease, I can use the 80WATTS fog lights on my lancer and not worry about melting. I JUST CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME RIGHT NOW.. Do you guys remember? And is this possible? "Eluctable Grease" ? BLAH HELP!.
That grease doesn't help cool down temps! it helps the conductivity and helps the connection not to be affected by water/rust.
Don't go to that shop again! Now, what you can do is get a wiring harness kit that plugs into those bulbs and into the stock harness location to help with larger output/wattage.
Anything to sell product...sheesh!

These are for the '02-'06 Lancers, but I hope you get the idea...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8000K...spagenameZWD1V
Do not run an 80 watt bulb on a 50 watt system! Don't even bother with getting the harness either! You should only run the designed 50watt bulb.
And the grease is called "Di-electric" grease. This will not prevent the harness from melting. Just helps keep moisture out, and prevent corrosion. Also helps make a full connection.

Either run them and have the possibility that they'll melt wiring or upgrade to a wiring harness like I posted up or find a properly rated bulb for the stock harness.
Good luck

Ive been using 100 watt bulbs for my low beams for a couple months now and no problems whatsoever......also, they do make 55 watt 2500k bulbs for the fog lights, but i dont have the link to them right now because im not at home! PM me for the link; they are 25 dollars and the brand is Luminics i think
Nokya Hyper Yellow arent 80W bulbs. The input is still 55W, they only "appear" to give an output of 80W. But that is just marketing BS.
Same with the 100W bulbs...They're probably 55W input, but "appear" to give 100W output. In most cases resulting in dramatically short lifetime, but arent going to affect the harness. Stop believing their marketing BS, and check the actual input wattage if you're worried about the harness.

karan was so right.. =( the back of my yellow fog lights said 55 watts. wasn't too bright at all either. thanks a lot guys. should i apply di electric grease to protect my harness? or is that not needed?
If you're going to continue using the Nokya bulbs you dont need any grease. The harness is designed to handle 55W input, and thats what the bulbs draw.
Just make sure you dont use any "Stage II" bulbs, as those have much higher power draw.
