I came across the receipt as I was going through some papers today. I paid $55 for that filter

If I can help it, I won't be purchasing parts from my local dealer anymore!

Wow I took out my filter today and it was filthy. I have only 2.5k miles.

And it was a cheap paper filter so $40 is a rip off.

Yeah, but what other option is there? Maybe when mine arrive I'll put in the measurements and see if K&N has a filter that fits...

I'm in the process of finding an alternate filter for this part. For anyone that might want to try and look it up and may have more knowledge here are the dimensions of the 08 lancer cabin air filter.

L 8 1/2 in. 216mm
w 7 7/8 in 200mm
h 1 3/16 30mm

So far my research has not found any cabin air filter with those dimensions.

I have checked other companies but nobody has made a filter for the 08 lancer. I bought a filter for an 05 mazda 3 from TYC filters and they have made a cabin filter for the previous gen lancer but they haven't made one for the 08 lancer yet.

Right now i'm checking on the dimensions of cabin filters for cars like accord or other mitsubishi/honda cars that have a filter with the same dimensions

the nissan altima 02-06 has a filter that is close in size as well as a 2003 Honda accord, only problem is the length and width are switched with the length of our filters. I wonder if you could modify the filter any?

http://filtermaster.com/mu2se2ma2al2.html

I've been going through this site looking at all makes of cars to see if one of them is really close to same size. But still i get ones that are shorter in Length and wider than ours, height is the same though on some.

Like the 2003 accord cabin filter i wonder if you could just cut off a bit of it so it fits in our lancer http://filtermaster.com/accord2003.html

The filter of the altima should fit (based on your measurements). There is no need to modify the filter just because the length and the width are switched. Actually it depends which you called width and which you called length or if they're really switched then the crests will be horizontal instead of vertical and that is not a problem the filter will do it's job anyway.

haha anyone want to be the guineapig? Heck the infinity is a closer match again length and width are switched but like you said if you can just turn it then cool. http://filtermaster.com/fx2fx2g352.html

When i measured it I measured length from longest side (side with the part number) and width is the side without the barrier on the sides. Don't know if thats right but I do know the numbers are exact for the measurements.

Yeah, if you ordered from Mitsubishiparts.net, you're stuck with DHL. WORST shipping company known to man. I never even checked on my filters (finally came yesterday), I just ignored it until they actually showed up.

no we didn't get it from there, were looking into the filters that are in the links in one of the posts above. Filterworks.com I think it is. And just for those who haven't read above these filters are not actual filters for the 08 lancer, they are filters for other makes of cars that have the same dimensions for the cabin air filter and are a hell of a lot cheaper. He got one of them to test it and if all goes well we can get a cabin air filter for like $15.
