short ram or long tube

i have been looking for a cold air intake for my 03 oz rally. i have seen short ram intakes where the intake is like right where the old air filter is, and i have seen intake kits that puts the filter down behind the bumper. i'm curious which one works better, i would think the short ram would be easier to install, but i want the one that gives the best performance.

It does not matter which one you get. They both will only give you 1 or 2 hp at the most. Dont let your butt dynos fool you.

The full cold air gives a little more power because the air it sucks in isn't right by the engine and the headers. I have the full AEM CAI and I love that thing.

Cold air intake is the one you would like. I have one, paid like $40.00 for it plus shipping. They are all about the same. Yes, the one that goes behind the bumper is the one you want. It won't suck water unless you dive the front end in water. Its pretty protected in the spot behind the bumper. Its surrounded on all sides and you can take the cover off where it covers up the filter and have a ram air type deal, which I had on my eclipse. I loved it. If you are worried about it sucking up water, they make an adapter that you put in a section of piping that makes a bypass type deal. won't suck up any water. Check it out, aem made one. With the bypass, they put the whole filter in water and it didn't suck up any.

I have a CAI and I like it....but im gonna switch back to a Ram System like the stock one that came with my car. CAI you gain Top end but you'll feel alil lost in throttle response and low end power. The SRI you feel Good Throttle response and low end is great but again top end will be eh'. But if you get a Ram System which came with my car (My Oz was a RMR Edition) it came with a Heat shield and a Duct that runs from the heat shield to the front of your grill. Which im looking for but cant find the dam thing anywhere so far. I lost mines during a move.
