I made a robot just to type out my evoM replies because it's very annoying to respond to threads like this one...it just takes too much effort and I often make typos.

This can give you a rough idea on how to do it: http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/54...solenoids.html
a helpful and simple answer.... what is up with all these remarks about me being lazy

ignore it and do what YOU want because it is YOUR car. It's a cool idea. The first time a remote control for a tv was made someone said, "why don't you quit being lazy and get off your ****."

lol sorry man but I laughed when I read the question. I don't see the need and going through all that to install it just so you don't have to hunch over or go around to close the trunk.

I too live in jersey and I usually pump my own gas. Stand up let the blood flow stretch out or something. Sorry but it just sounds like laziness the way it comes off. Full service gas, can't hunch over to pull a switch, hey pretty soon your gonna need someone to drive your car for you... =/

dont worry about others *****in...i rekon it would be cool to have a motorised fuel door. ive seen many hummers with it. theres gotta be many universal fuel doors that are motorised.

So ask the guy pumping your gas to close the trunk. Does he tell you it's against the law for him to shut your trunk or what?

Full service just sounds stupid to me. I'd feel like a hopeless idiot when someone else comes out to pump my gas for me. What's the point?

Just disconnect the trunk from the floor lever and use your key to open it when needed

just gonna throw it out there sense no one else mentioned it.... why not relocate the lever? if the problem is the trunk latch in the way than i would assume it would be a little easier and safer to just relocate the lever to your liking.

got to admit it would be cool but i would be a little weary about an electrical device near an opening into my gas tank.

Good Luck to you, hope it works out!

you would actually install the $20 solenoid somewhere inside the car where the line for the release would be. best place would Actually be behind the rear seat under the c pillar behind the cushion. A solenoid there would work. but you would need to wire it some how. I see way to much effort going into that though. I say if you pull the wrong lever suck it up look like an idiot to the attendant but play it off like "i need to get something outta my trunk".

i would never ask the pump attendant to close my trunk because even if i ask him to just lift it up and drop it.... he probily doesnt give a sh*t and would just slam it.... how many of you would be happy if some stupid kid slamed your trunk....

well weather full service sounds stupid or not, it is the law here in NJ ( and it is also convient in the winter time...) And if it wasnt cheaper in NJ then it was in Philly, i would go pump it my self in Philly. 20-30 cents per gallon
