Cigarette Lighter
Cigarette Lighter
Hey all,
I don't post replies, or post at all really, I'm a lurker, normally I find what I need via search...
At any rate- I think the cigarette lighter socket is bad. I've checked the fuses (good) and made sure that the power supply, is... well supplying power to the socket (and it is). So, does anyone know where I can find a how to, to remove the socket itself? I've tried the search feature, as well roaming around and can't find anything about it.
I've started to play with this sort of plastic "horseshoe" that's around the socket, and was wondering if all I had to do is remove that and badda-bang-badda-bing-badda-boom it will pop-out so I can find a junkyard and replace it...
Any and all help is appreciated.
(side note, I generally don't post I usually lurk, so I tried my best to put this in the right area if it's not sorry)

if you are manual tranny do this
open the storage container in the center console, in the bottom are two screws. Remove those screws and pull the e-brake up as high as you can. You should be able to swing that console out from the back of the car towards the front, it kind of clips into the shifter console.
Once it's off, there are two screws underneath holding the shifter console on. Remove those, your shift knob and the two plastic pieces at the very front of the console by the firewall on both driver and passenger sides. If memory serves, one side snaps in and the other has a screw rivet thing that holds it in. Bring a flashlight for that. Get those off and you should be able to lift the shift console up. Don't try to pull it right off, you need to disconnect the power supply, a quick connector you'll see when you take everything apart, near where the two screws were you undid to remove the shift console.
