keyless entry

I just bought a remote for my '02 Lancer OZ and I already put a new battery in it and it works fine. But when I try to program it to the car it doesn't work. I grounded terminal 1 to a ground and pressed the hazard switch 6 times like the instructions say and the program responded because the doors locked and unlocked once. But when I press the button on the remote to program it nothing happens. I'm sure I'm following the instructions correctly so is it something wrong with the signal receiver on the car? I dont really know what to do.

with all door closed make the same steps you made
then press the transmitter button and then press it two times within 10 seconds of the first press this will register the code.

can you help a lancer noob?

Hey guys, I just got my lancer OZ a couple days ago. I know this is an older post, but I have been searching for an answer I cant seem to find. The PO lost the key with the keyless entry FOB. so i want to get a replacement.. i do not have the number Serial # that is on the back of the FOB... how do i know which one to get? Iam trying to avoid ridiculous dealer fees. also the key i got with the car will only unlock the driverside, but when i put it in the passenger side it will only lock the car? is this because it might be a Vallet key? can anyone point me to a good seller on ebay to get the keyless entry? thanks

Here is a great site for 02 Lancer programming information, (worked for my OZ Rally edition). I recently had the same problem as Rhyno811 and purchased several remotes off of ebay.
Currently the only remote I can confirm that works with the lancer is FCC ID: OUCG8D-525M-A
It has an Unlock and a Lock button. (purchased all my remotes for around 20 bucks)
