lancer gts oil low?

Hi everyone, im new to the site as well as lancer/tuner world. I was peforming a routine oil change (it takes 4.5 quarts). When i was refilling the engine with the new oil i accidently forgot to put the half quart of oil in and proceeded to start it. Once it ran for a little over a minute i realized my mistake and put the rest in to the fill line. My question is could any damaged occured from this? Srry if this is a redicilous question im just super **** about the car. I run mobil 1 and use k&n filter. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Short answer, Your 100% fine.

Depending on the oil and if you drive normal. You could run with half to even low on the stick. Not recommended of course and yoru asking for trouble if its more then a short run. But You would be surprised how durable full synthetic fluid is. Even on my older mazda. There have been times when its been super low. Then I top it up. Everything is fine. its happened here and there over the 340,000 km life of the car. but the engine still puts out near perfect emissions tests. A good Synthetic oil has been engineered to stick to everything and offer good performance. Of course this very by brands. But I am very familure with Mobil 1 oil. I run the Extended performance oil in all my old cars. And soon in my Lancer after I cross over 160,000km point.

Inferior Conventional oil is where you will run into issues. Since it cant handle extreme situations very well. High heat levels can start to cause the oil to break down and separate.

You'll be perfectly fine. I made this type of "oops" when I changed my own oil in this car for this first time instead of having someone else do it. That was 40k miles ago, and I'm still running strong.
