Torque/compression problem!

Hey Guys!

Ever since I got my dual exhaust system, I lost some torque. I knew I would. Is there a problem with compression?

My friend thinks there is. But, you guys are the pros. He mentioned something about some wires that are thicker and the diameter is smaller so the compression can be evened out or something. I don't remember what he quite said. Maybe you guys might know what he's talking about.

So any of you guys know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks,
-Andy

Without knowing anymore specifics I would guess its simply a lack of back pressure issue. Exhaust system is not going to change the compression of the engine at all. As far as regaining some torque, only thing I can suggest is doing what anybody does to get more power, intake, cam, head work, turbo etc.

I Lose low end torque right? Wouldn't a throttle body fix this problem? I already have a intake. Sorry, for this really dumb question but..... Can you give me a example of "head work" Lol...

Thanks,

EVERYONE! Never mind the wire my friend was talking about, he's talking about a throttle body...

This is exactly what he said in his text..

"No wire.. Throttle body.... you gotta get more compression in your engine... u gain horsepower but lose low end torque.. Think about it this way.. If you take a string and put a toilet paper cardboard roll through it and try to blow it across its slow as hell... but if u use a straw it moves faster .. cuz there is more compression being forced thru."

That's what he said ^ Does it make sense to you guys?

I think what he means to say is simply you want more aire in the combustion chamber which pretty much any upgrade is designed to do. The more air you can shove into the chamber the more fuel and susequently more power you can make thats why a turbo can create a major increase in power because it is simply an air compressor.
