02 OZ Rally headers

Hey everyone, I bought an 02 OZ Rally a few weeks back. I just took it to the dealer to have recalls fixed, they flashed the computer and installed a new fan control module. However my check engine light is still on and they said that my warm up cat is bad. I've already replaced the flex pipe, the secondary cat, and the resonator pipe. Now my question is, can I install a set of racing headers and front pipe to the exisiting exhaust system? The headers I am looking at have a place for the O2 sensor, would this clear my light? Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a light for my pre cat about 5 months ago. I replaced the exhaust manifold with a set of headers and down pipe from ebay. Immediately cleared the code and it hasn't popped back up since. A few people here say u will need to trick the sensors with some oil non foulers but I didn't need to and haven't since I put on my headers. So u can get them and put them on. If it does pop up u will need to do the oil non fouler trick. Hope that helps.

Yea that does help. I just didn't want to spend almost $300 on stock manifold and cat when I can get headers for $80. Did you have to retune anything after the install, or is it more of a plug and play type?

Yeah I completely understand. That's why I opted for the headers. And I didn't retune. I just plu and played. Haven't had an issue. And idk if a retune will do anything. But I'm not positive on that. Maybe someone else will chime in and give a better opinion on that.

Cool, thanks everyone. My new headers came in and I installed them. Got to admit, that one pulley was hard as heck to get out of the way, but they are in and they look great. Check engine light went off. So far so good!

Yea, between 2500-3500rpm it has a different sound, not sure how to describe it, almost like a can I guess. Definite increase with horsepower, that is the most noticeable difference. I noticed that my muffler sits a little close to the bumper now too, every time I start the car can hear it bang against the bumper.

yeah. It's probably a little bit longer than the old exhaust manifold you pulled off. But I know what you mean about the sound. I had just the headers before I did the rest of the exhaust. And everyone thought I was crazy about the horsepower when I first put them on. .. But it's there. Lol.
