RRM Piggyback ECU Install (Manual Transmission)

ROAD///RACE PIGGY BACK ECU INSTALL
(US Lancer OZ, ES, LS Manual Trans.)

1) Disconnect the battery

2) Access the ECU by lowering the glove box door. The left side tab pulls towards you and
then comes into the glovebox. After that you just pull the right side inward and the
glovebox will drop down and can be removed off the hinges.

3) The ECU is located to the left and its wires are covered by a plastic plate underneath
where the glovebox was.

4) Pull the lower cover plate towards you and it comes off exposing the ECU wires.

5) Pull the connectors out of the ECU by pushing in on the tabs and pulling them out.

6) Using the above diagram connect the wires of the Piggy back as follows.

7) Connect the Piggy Back’s RED wire to the RED/YELLOW wire on ECU pin 12. (T-
Into the wire do not sever it)

8) Connect the Piggy Back’s BLACK wire to the BLACK wire on ECU pin 13. (T-Into the
wire do not sever it)

9) Connect the Piggy Back’s YELLOW/BLACK wire to the GREEN/WHITE wire on
ECU pin 58. (T-into the wire do not sever it)

10) Cut the WHITE/RED wire on ECU pin 90. (Leave enough wire on both sides so that
you can re-connect to both sides)

11) Connect the Piggy Back’s GREEN wire to the side of the cut wire that leads away from
the ECU.

12) Connect the Piggy Back’s VIOLET wire to the side of the cut wire that leads to the ECU.

13) Connect the Piggy Back’s vacuum line to the line provided and route it to the intake
manifold. Use the Tee provided to connect it to the same line used for the stock fuel
regulator then cut off a piece of the supplied line to connect to the manifold where the
stock regulator was connected. There is a rubber grommet sealing a hole just behind the
passenger side strut. Remove that to route vacuum line from inside car to manifold.

14) Now collect your wires and place the Piggy Back in a safe location away from any
danger. (Zip ties/Velcro seems to work well.)

15) Reconnect the battery.

16) Start the car and don’t be alarmed at a high reving situation as the ECU is now in learn
mode.

17) Allow the car to idle for 5-10 minutes

18) After idle period drive car for 10-15 minutes very conservatively taking care not to rev
the car high or drive hard.

19) After this learning period the car should be fine and you should be able to stop the car
and it will return to idle without a problem.

20) Shut the car off

21) Restart car insuring a good clean start as it has always done before install.

22) If all is well enjoy your new Piggy Back and go have some fun!
