He's right. The more tools the better, but you can do it with just simple tools if that is all you have access to.

 

so all you gotta do is fill those mounts with mashed potatoes? from idaho?

 

Yeah, I'm sure it will give you 20+ hp with it too.

 

I believe the reason the 5 speed has the metal piece ontop and the auto doesn't is to ease in shifting. I believe it acts as a "counterwieght" to keep shifts as smooth as possible.

 

I have just changed three of the four mounts on a 02 oz rally manual tranmission. Went relatively smooth once you got the braker bar in the right angles. I didnt change the passanger side mount as it seemed fine. do you know what the round cylinder does on the top of it? front and back mounts where both cracked. transmission mount was ok but changed it anyways.

The other strange thing i notice was that on the front mount the bolt was smaller that the hole in the mount. The hole in engine bracket was ok for the bolt and the old mount was the same without any brushing of any kind. Is that normal?

Any suggestions?
