Subwoofer replacement?

The car is used for one, shame on me for buying it used. The sound system is also stock.

Now, I keep the bass at 3 and the treble at 4 and hardly ever turn it up past 25~30, but for some reason when I changed it from the radio to the CD player, the 8" sub in the trunk took a crap. I took the speaker cover off and the plastic ring around the speaker fell off.
Is it possible to buy like an 8" JL or something to replace it? It doesnt look like you can because of the gold/bronze frame holding the speaker in the box.

If you want an aftermarket sub you'll, at the very least, need to get a new amp for it. The stock amp wasn't designed to power a stronger aftermarket speaker. Also, I've heard that the stock enclosure is pretty shallow, and you'll likely have trouble finding a speaker to fit in it.

Okay, I just want to get a replacement for it, dont really want it to hit harder. (yet)

I guess Ill have the dealer look at it and tell me what I need to do to get a new one.
