speakers for christmas...OH JOY!
i got a set of BOSS audio phantom series 6.5" speakers for christmas..
i know theyll fit the front doors...
they say theyre 350w, i dont know much about stereos but im guessing(by looking at all the opther 6.5" speakers on theyre website its basically 1.5 steps up from stock....)
i already have a "one step up from stock" pioneer HU that came with the car...does anybody know is it worth upgrading the speakers in the car w/ theese..(im guessing so specially since i got them free)...and if so would it be a better idea to do the ft door speakers or the parcel shelf ones...?
heres a link to the boss website so any1 can see their specs...

make sure to check to see if they have all the speakers that are supposed to be in each one.
there was a huge scandal recently with speakers claiming "3-way" but having only the front piece and not actually including the tweeter and/or mid range speaker because they are barely visible.

^^i only glanced at the speakers but ill definetly look better later...
the only thing that worries me about them is that they have those "glowing eyes" and im afraid it'll be reflecting off the windshield in the parcel shelf or ill just catch it off the corner of my eye in the ft doors and driving me crazy they pulsate on/off...and just watch its more visible than i imagine and i end up getting pulled over constantly for flashing lights in my car...lol

That 350 Watts is the peak power and is split between the 2 drivers. If I were to guess I would say your lucky if they can take 50 watts RMS each.
As for the installation of audio drivers, no matter what you have, there is absolutely no point in installing them if you don't do it correctly. At the very least you will want to make up a set of MDF baffles and seal them with either foam tape or a non-hardening modeling clay. This will get rid of any leaks and sound loss around the driver; it will also reduce vibrations and rattle between the door and driver. Once you have the baffle complete you can decide if you want to sound deaden and seal up your door; doing this will create an enclosure for your drivers and will make them sound they way they were made to sound. It is impossible to get midbass without a properly sealed door.
When it comes to the placement of midbass and high range drivers, always start with the front. This is where you sit and 90% of the sound you will hear will come from the front stage.
Quick question: What do you mean by 1.5 step up from stock?

since theres a 300w speaker "below" mine in the same line....the 50w difference is the ".5 step" in the "1.5 steps up from stock"....since tho theyre not much better, id assume they are better than stock...
dont worry if u dont understand still....it makes sense in my head...
