is putting a turbo making your car somehting it isnt?? are wheels?? is a system?? all these things make your car into something it isnt, yet they are alright. changing the taillights is no different. i love my lancer and i put a lot of time into deciding what vehicle i wanted to purchase. if, however, i like an aspect from another vehicle, why should i not be able to use that on my own vehicle??

army, i am actually not on the east coast getting my *** kicked like soem people. i am in fort walton, panama city area. we got hit pretty hard by ivan but none of the others so far this year.

Those things enhance the car... but putting taillights off of another car that's not specifically made for your car is just rice. Im sorry to have to break that to you. Look @ my ****tard neigbor... he has a honda CRX with supra tail lights and a bmw M roadster front end... that car looks like crap. Honestly I have no problem with customization of cars, but just dont ****in steal stuff off other cars and try to put it on your own car. That's just rice

i agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but i also think that if the creator of the thread wanted to know whether or not you thought his idea was a good one he would have asked. instead he asked if you knew of anyone who had done this or knew of any pictures of this particular modification. that does not give anyone the right to flame him. i think in this sport of customizing cars and trucks that their are very different ideas and many different ways of accomplishing the same goal. each person chooses their own path. let the judge at the car show and the people on the street talk bad about his car AFTER it is finished. because truthfully until he finishes his project you dont have a clue what it is going to look like. so dont flame people for viewing their ideas.

kareem i am not here to argue with you. i think you have very good views on things and i enjoy reading your posts. however, youre definition of rice is making your car somehting it is not. well my idea of that is doing anything to your car that makes it what it is not originally, i.e. system, wheels, bodykit, turbo, anything like that. i dont think that rice is a very relevant term as everyone views it as something different. this whole conversation is about the fact that you guys dont like his idea. well he does, and that should be the end of it, dont call him a ricer for it. again i say that if you think a part from another car would look better on your car why should you not be able to use that part if you have the ability and the money to make it happen??? i mean i wouldnt try to put a mustang front end on my car or anything like that. but i do think that if he wants to do this to his car he should get encouragment for doing something that not many other people have done and being at least pseudo-original, not flamed because he is not giving in to the norm.

That's all Im saying. Im not flaming the customization of anyone's car. I have a bodykit and a system in my car... why? Cuz i like it and i think it's pretty nice. Im not trying to make my car look like an IS300 or a BMW M3 or any **** like that.

 

If you wanna be original with your car then do things people have never done before... like this:

- 2 door conversion

- make REAL angel eyes for your headlights

- Mold your own bodykit (that doesnt copy any other cars)

etc...

 

that is a post from you, the first line is what i based my argument on. i guess you didnt exactly word it how you wanted. i wasnt trying to put words into your mouth. anyway, again lets just drop it. i dont want to get anyone upset at me, because for one reason i dont get upset with anyone else so...... i still like you kareem, haha. we could still hang out if we actually knew each other. i was just trying to say that almost anything that you do to a vehicle makes it something it isnt. i gave examples, you said those were enhancments. i think that the is300 conversion is an enhancement as well. to each his own. we can both win.

 

Putting IS 300 tail lights on a Lancer is making it an IS300... hence making it something it is NOT... A Lancer is NOT an IS300.

You took 1 tiny part of my whole post out of context. Read the whole context and you'll see what I mean.

 

i am actually doing everything to my car original. none of the things will ahve been done before, except engine stuff, and maybe the is300 light conversions. i am making my own bodykit, doing some pretty crazy door stuff, but no angel eyes, i dont like them. im not going 2 door but the back doors wont be usable really. they are actually going to be split in half and the top opens up and the bottom opens down. i know it sounds really wierd, but i am in this for the show aspect of the sport not the perfomance and functionality. my car, however, will be a daily driver. the back seat area will house my audio setup, all fiberglass and very custom. the trunk lid is going to be redone to open a different way without hinges. my car will have about 20000 dollars worth of randomness on top of the 16000 that i paid for it. but this is a very expensive hobby/sport. and i like to be the best. and in order to be the best you must be different and that costs money so i am willing to spend it. plus i get everything cheap becasue i own a shop, yay!!!

 

i understand what you are saying about being something its not, now understand what i am saying. your car is not a performance machine with 300 horsepower. making it that is making it something its not. in my opinion that is the same principle. but again lets stop this nonsense and roast some marshmellows or something.
