Painting my valve cover this weekend...

I'm painting my valve cover this weekend and wanted to know what things to avoid doing or things I cannot forget to do. I have new a new gasket and paint. Is there anything else I need? I know I need primer but is there a certain kind I need or just what is at my local pep boys? Should I lubricate the new gasket before putting it in? and how long of a job are me and my friends looking at? just some misc. questions I had. Thanks.

This guide done by RRM would be a great help for u:
https://www.evolutionm.net/features/...orner&id=19&s=

A couple warnings, dont overtighten or undertighten the six 10mm screws holding the valve cover in place otherwise you will break your valve cover or cause a major oil mess in your engine bay and trust me, it isnt fun to clean. Other than that... good luck bud, be sure to post some pix after ur done

i painted my valve cover with high temp blue anodized paint... came out AWESOME! i will post pics when i get to use a dig. camera. it required some mild sanding, but for a rattle can job, it kicks ***. try to keep the paint from getting on the gasket though.

wipe it down with alcohol thoroughly before painting.... use 1100+ degree paint, dont use 500,

it will last about 6-8 months before it starts to fade...

if you save up about 75-100 bucks you can get it powder coated!!!
