Can you not remove it from the underside of that center trim piece??

When i was installing my short shifter, it seemed to me that it was possible to remove it from there

trulancer, yes you have to take the whole thing off, then unscrew the plastic ring, it comes out after that. I can't remember if it screws or snaps, but it comes off

you mean a walk thru?

its simple... just get a small flat head screwdriver, and pry. It just unsnaps

EDIT:.... you will need to unscrew the screw underneather the ashtray to remove

One plastic screw/clip thing in each foot well, two screws in the console under the arm rest. Unclip and lift.

And for the record it's "through".

Let us know how it goes. I intend to do the same this spring/summer. It's been a while since I've taken apart my console.

I just went to lunch and took a look at the console.. This looks easy! I dont think I should have any trouble at all. I should also be able to clean up a coffee stain that happened before I go the darn car! (dealer took it to clean it up spilled his coffee in the console and I have not been able to get the stain out!!!!!!!
